During the early morning hours of Sunday, May 26, 2019 around 1:18am the Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department was notified of a motor vehicle accident on Big Valley Road near Old Valley Road, SCVFD units responded to the scene with Rescue 51 and Engine 54 to find a one vehicle accident that appeared to be a rollover. A male and female found at the scene were checked for injuries from the accident.SCVFD units assisted Union County EMS. The female was transported by Union County EMS to UT Hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries. The male was checked on scene and later transported by law enforcement to Union County Jail. The vehicle was a GMC pickup truck, which was totaled from the wreck, where the driver had apparently lost control and struck several trees before coming to rest in the middle of the roadway. The accident was being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. SCVFD units remained on scene and assisted the wrecker company with clearing the roadway.
