A 62 year old man with medical issues was reported missing last week when family members came home and could not locate him. The incident took place on Friday, December 11, 2020 around 5:00pm when Union County dispatch was notified.
Units from the Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and Union County Rescue Squad responded to the scene in the 900 block of Walker Road in Sharps Chapel. SCVFD was also assisted by the Union County Sheriff’s Department, K-9 units and Tennessee Highway Patrol, who did fly overs with their helicopter.
Several family members and local citizens also assisted in looking for the man. A local citizen had reportedly drove by the residence around 1:00pm and saw the man in his back yard
As the search went on into the night, a family member contacted authorities and advised the man had been located in a barn approximately 1 mile from the residence he went missing from. He was located around 2:00am.
The man was checked and evaluated by Union County EMS with no injuries reported and returned home. SCVFD Fire Chief Chris Upton said he would like to thank everyone who helped with the search in any way and was very grateful he was returned home safely with no life threatening injuries.
