Sharps Chapel Junior Firefighter Team Attends North Carolina Competition

The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department Junior Firefighters Explorer Post attended the 9th Annual Warren County North Carolina Junior Firefighter Competition this past weekend on Friday and Saturday, April 26th and 27th. The event is held each year in Warrenton, North Carolina and the Sharps Chapel team has attended several years. A total of 18 Teams from North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Florida competed in this years event. The Sharps Chapel team was taken by Post Advisors Chief Chris Upton, Kevin Brantley and Dustin Ray. The Explorer team this year consisted of Johnathan Blanton, Carson Nicley, Michael Scraggs, Zach Jones and Dakota Sharpe. The teams competed in 5 team events, 1 knowledge event, 1 verbal event and a knot tying event. Chief Upton stated that although our team did not bring home one of the top 3 awards this year, this was a good training, team building and fellowship event for everyone. We are proud of our team for their hard work and effort as they competed against some very strong teams this year from several states.
