SCVFD has busy Valentine’s Day

Sharps Chapel VFD was dispatched to a residential fire on Valentine’s Day. Engine 51 & 52 along with Tanker 51 responded. When units arrived, homeowner had extinguished the fire. Hot ashes that were dumped in the yard caught the grass on fire and burnt up to the outside of the home. The skirting of the home was damaged from the fire. Units checked the home with a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had not got into the flooring of the home. After everything was found to be okay, all units returned back in service. Soon after units arrived back at the station, SCVFD was dispatched to a fire alarm. Engine 51 & 52 again responded to the call. Units arrived on scene and found that alarm had been activated due to smoke from cooking. Everything checked out okay and all units returned back to service.
